Dynamite Double Up Cavalry, 10-5

The Denver Dynamite took on the CSC Cavalry in a must win match, in order to keep pace with the two clubs ahead of them in the standings.  After almost 10 minutes with no score, Midfielder Justin Ferguson would open up the scoring for the Dynamite, assisted by Tony Thomas.  With 1:23 remaining in the first quarter, Josh Elbaum would knock home a Travis Carey pass to give the Dynamite a 2-0 lead.

The Cavalry would open up the second quarter with an Eduar Rodriguez goal, cutting the lead to 2-1 with 11:45 remaining in the half.  Mike Ogletree would connect on a Javier Larios pass with 7 minutes remaining, and Greg Borchers knocked in a rebound to close out the half, with the Dynamite leading 4-1.

In the third quarter, the offense would explode on both sides.  Only 20 seconds in, Francisco Evora would score for the Cavalry, assisted by Pete Randall.  Travis Carey would answer for the Dynamite 2 minutes later.  With 10:28 remaining, Javier Larios would score off a steal/breakaway, extending the Denver lead to 6-2.  The clubs would trade goals for the remainder of the quarter.  Pete Randall for the Cavalry (8:45 left), Travis Carey for the Dynamite (off a rebound with 7:15 left), and Beto Hernandez for the Cavalry (Assist by Eduar Rodriguez with 3:05 left), making the score 7-4 Dynamite after 3.

Early in the fourth quarter, the Dynamite received their 6th foul, giving the Cavalry a power play.  Not only would the Dynamite kill it, but Luke Burgard would score a shorthanded goal right at the end of the two minutes, extending the Denver lead to 8-4.  With 7:35 remaining Tony Thomas received a Blue Card to give the Cavalry a second power play.  This time they would capitalize immediately with a Beto Hernandez free kick goal.  This would cut the margin to 3 goals, and the Dynamite would respond with another Javier Larios goal with 4:56 on the clock.   Denver would finish out the scoring with a Jay Hamilton power play goal (assist by Tony Avery) to win 10-5.

Javier Larios had a breakthrough match for the Dynamite with 2 goals and 1 assist.  Travis Carey also had 2 goals and 1 assist in a team effort for the Dynamite, who had 8 other players with one goal apiece.  Beto Hernandez led the Cavalry with 2 goals and 1 assist.  Dynamite Goalkeeper Garrison Goodner led the game in the save department, with 21.  The win moves the Dynamite into second place, just in time for a showdown with the league leading Colorado Blizzard, late this Saturday in Colorado Springs at 10:40pm.  A Dynamite victory would put them in a tie for first, and a loss would put them two games down with only three remaining.
